SUSTAINABILITY POLICY AT HK BUSSAR

HK Bussar is a company that takes sustainability in the travel industry very seriously, both socially and environmentally.

At HK Bussar, we firstly welcome you to our country and secondly, we do everything in our power to be as environmentally friendly as possible.

We recognize that our effort and knowledge in becoming a recognized operator in sustainable tourism is ongoing, but we strive to continuously earn and improve to become one of the leading sustainable tour operators in the Faroe Islands.

In the company's approx. 60 years of history we have always aimed to ensure top-notch sustainability efforts.

Examples of sustainability efforts:

  • We do not buy new furniture for the office unless it is necessary, all furniture in the office is bought/acquired from recycling.
  • For the past several years, we have ensured that all waste from the office is sorted and disposed of as environmentally friendly as possible.
  • When our buses are replaced, we buy new ones, that are as environmentally friendly as possible.
  • We make sure that all service on the buses is done at authorized workshops and that all waste from there is sorted and destroyed in a manner as environmentally friendly as possible.
  • We only use environmentally friendly cleaning products, both in the office and on the buses
  • We do not use printed vouchers. Our preferred proof-of-payment method is a reservation number/name.

We wish to assure our partners & visitors that as our company grows and evolves, our core values remain the same. We take our contribution and actions to our local community and in some small way globally very seriously. We strive to encourage and inspire, so that our providers/partners, old and new, are left with satisfied and rich experiences.

We have coaches of multiple sizes to transport groups in, assuring each group receives a suitable coach. This way it is possible to limit the environmental impact of travelling.

Our bus providers have announced, that they will not produce electric buses for the tourism industry within the near future. Thus, while we look forward to this development, all our buses are equipped with new engines, featuring diesel particulate filters, essential in order to meet the Euro 6 norms (volvobuses.com).
